Guided Tours

Guided tours of the Botanic Garden & Attenborough Arboretum

Guided tours are available to visiting groups by prior arrangement, and can be tailored to suit your needs, e.g. outside the normal opening hours. On arrival, visiting groups are divided into smaller parties of about ten people each. A trained volunteer Guide (from the Friends of the Botanic Garden) then accompanies each party around the Garden or Arboretum. A tour typically takes about 1.5 hours and can be combined with light refreshments at the end, if so wished.

Taking a tour ensures that you won't miss anything: all the highlights and many interesting, hidden details are included. The Botanic Garden tours focus on the history and development of the garden, especially the restored Edwardian garden, the houses and landscape features of particular interest.

Throughout the tours, noteworthy plants are pointed out, together with information about their scientific and horticultural significance. Tours can be tailor-made to suit your group's particular interest if required.
