How to get here

Botanic GardenAttenborough Arboretum

The Botanic Garden is situated about three miles south-east of Leicester city centre, opposite Leicester Racecourse. The visitor entrance is on Glebe Road, LE2 2LD (see map below).

By bus: from the city centre or railway station catch an Arriva 31/31A or Arriva 80/80A and alight at Glebe Road.

By car: from M1 junction 21 follow the ring road A563 to its junction with the A6 at Oadby. The Botanic Garden backs on to the roundabout at this junction. Turn left, then immediately right, into Glebe Road, LE2 2LD.

The Attenborough Arboretum is situated about one mile south-east of Leicester city centre, in South Knighton at the top of Carisbrooke Road, LE2 3PF (see map below). School parties should use the Carisbrooke Road gate, which will be opened by one of our teachers. All other visitors should use the Knighton Road entrance (see map below).

By bus: from the city centre or railway station catch an Arriva 44 and alight at Carisbrooke Road, Arboretum stop.

By car: from M1 junction 21 follow the ring road A563 to its junction with the A6 at Oadby. Turn left towards Leicester, left into Shanklin Drive and then right into Carisbrooke Rd.

NOTE: public access to the Attenborough Arboretum is via College Court from Knighton Road. Schools should use the Carisbrooke Road (LE2 3PF) gate  (see map below).

Café in the Garden

Café in the Garden 2017

We regret that the University Catering Dept. will be not be providing a café in the Botanic Garden this summer.

However, we will be offering refreshments at some of our special events. For details see our events calendar on our website.

Sculpture exhibition

Please note that there will not be a University sculpture exhibition in the Botanic Garden in 2017.
