Biological identification courses

We offer a range of courses focusing on plant, animal and fungi identification, whatever your skill level. You can also sit the exam for a Plant Identification Skills Licence to assess your plant identification and botanical surveying proficiency.  Click on the links below for further information.


Plant Identification Skills 2019-20 (two modules).

Book online here.

A course for people with some botanical knowledge.
Module 1 (October to December). Learn how to identify all the commoner plant families in the British Isles.
Module 2 (April to June). Learn how to identify species by sight and how to use identification keys, field guides, Floras and other media. Click here for further details.

Plant Identification Licence 2020

20th June 2020
Assess your botanical skill level by taking this one-day exam which results in a plant ID qualification, validated by the University of Leicester.
