6 Projects funded in 2017 LISCB Pump Priming Call

The LISCB pump Priming Call 2017 was put out in March 2017 with the aim to provide funding to get projects off the ground and promote collaborations both within the Institute and between the Institute and the wider University.

The call received a very positive response and 6 projects were selected by the Core Executive for funding:

Jamie Williams / Jon Lapington (Physics & Astronomy) - Graphene Based Selective Protein Sensor

Ed Galyov (3Is) - Structure-based design of inhibitors for bacterial Lytic transglycosylases

James Hodgkinson (LISCB) - PROTAC’s a paradigm shift from small molecule protein inhibition to catalytic small molecule protein degradation
Natalie Garton (3Is) - A biophysical approach to monitor adaptation of mycobacterial cells to environmental conditions associated with aerosol transmission – Towards understanding factors impacting the transmission of TB

Andrew Hudson (LISCB) - The role of lipid rafts on the self-assembly dynamics of membrane-protein complexes

Oksana Gonchar (LISCB) - Application of a gene-editing CRISPR/Cas9 technology to study gene expression mechanisms using high-throughput transcriptome analysis (RNA-seq) and high resolution imaging
