CAMEo Research Funding Competition 2018/19 books from above.jpg

The CAMEo Research Institute for Cultural and Media Economies seeks to facilitate research on the cultural industries, the ‘creative economy’, arts, media and cultural policy, consumer culture dynamics, and the mediation and representation of cultural and economic life.

To support research in this area, we invite staff to submit applications for support for the writing and submission (by July 2019) of external funding bids. Successful applicants will work with a professional grant writer, and have up to £1,200 to support grant writing activities. The proposed activities should fall into the broad CAMEo research remit as outlined in the attached.

Click here for more details of CAMEo’s Research Funding Competition.

Deadline for submissions: Monday 22 October 2018.

Visiting Researchers

CAMEo invites applications for short or longer-term visits (up to three months) from academics and other researchers who would like to spend time in Leicester undertaking their own research or writing projects, or collaborating with us on new work. Workspace is provided and resources are available to support travel and accommodation costs for visitors. If you are interested in visiting CAMEo, please contact Mark Banks or Doris Eikhof with a short outline of your plans. Places are limited but priority will be given to applicants who best support the priorities of our Research Strands, and whose work can help develop the profile and work of the institute.

Postgraduate Research

CAMEo is always keen to hear from people who wish to apply to undertake PhD research on cultural and media economies. We invite applications from self-funded students, as well as those who wish to secure funding from research councils, or from internal funding competitions at the University of Leicester. Please see further information on our Research Degrees page and send your enquiries and applications in the first instance to cameo@le.ac.uk.

Collaborate with us

CAMEo is committed to developing innovative research that offers new evidence and fresh understandings of the cultural and creative industries, creative economy, media and arts – and so we welcome collaborations with internal and external partners with shared or similar interests. All University of Leicester academics, centres and units are invited to contact us to discuss potential new projects and collaborations, in areas that relate to our core research interests. If you are an external organisation, practitioner or academic and would like to work with CAMEo or any of its members, then please do contact us directly in person, or by emailing Professor Mark Banks mb612@le.ac.uk
