Audience at Attenborough Arts Centre


Attenborough Arts Centre has a range of fully adaptable and accessible spaces for use and hire.

From only £15 per hour, you can hire spaces for performance, training, creative activities, rehearsals, workshops and meetings.

Our rooms and studios offer various facilities to enhance your hire, including built in projectors, screens, sound systems and arts equipment. For large scale events, performances and concerts you can hire our Diana Princess of Wales Hall. The hall has a fully functional sound system and lighting rig, please download our Technical Pack for full specifications. We can provide highly experienced technical and staffing support for your event. Contact us to discuss your needs and the costs involved.

Great catering is essential to reward and refuel your audience or delegates and the University of Leicester’s award winning catering services can be provided to anyone hiring space at Attenborough Arts Centre.  Visit our Catering page to find out more.

Diana Princess of Wales Hall

Our beautiful Diana, Princess of Wales Hall is an intimate, flexible performance space, seating up to around 100 people.
The hall boasts a selection of seating arrangements, including two moveable and retractable tiered seating units as well as chairs and even beanbags! The room is naturally lit by a central skylight and side windows. The hall also boasts a full theatre lighting rig.

The floor is a hardwood timber sprung floor, and is designed with good acoustics. We have a Harlequin dance floor that can be laid on request. The hall also has two side areas with partition doors, one of these is used as our backstage area but can be opened out to increase the room size. The hall has an induction loop fitted.

Studio 1

Studio 1 is situated on the first floor, and has a hardwood timber sprung floor that is ideal for dance or performance work.
The room benefits from great natural light and large windows, with blinds, which also makes it ideal for meetings and presentations. Studio 1 has a built in projector, and the system can also play DVDs or connect to a laptop. There is a small sound system in studio 1, that consists of speakers, and an amplifier connected to a stereo unit for playing sound. There is also a portable stereo system that can be used, this can play music from phones or Ipods. The room has an induction loop fitted.

Studio 3

Studio 3 is situated on the first floor, and is our smaller working art studio space. It benefits from large skylights and windows which give it great natural light. It has two large accessible sinks, and access straight out onto our access ramp. The room can be set with tables or easels, and is great for smaller creative meetings or art sessions.



Studio 4

Studio 4 is situated on the first floor, and is the larger of our two art spaces. It has very large windows facing out to the front of the building, and also boasts a working kiln! Studio 4 is perfect for arts classes, informal meetings and creative sessions.
It can also be used for movement sessions or other bookings. It can be set with easels and tables and is a very flexible space. It has two accessible sinks, as well as accessible easels and benches. The room has a supply of drawing boards.

Music practice room bookings

PLEASE NOTE: due to the Coronavirus pandemic we are not currently accepting any bookings for music practice rooms, and will not be until further notice.

Attenborough Arts Centre manages bookings for 3 of the music practice rooms based on the main University campus.

  • Charles Wilson Building 10th Floor (CW10) – suitable for group and band rehearsals and music tuition. Access to the room and instrument store cupboards is via access code.
  • Attenborough Seminar Block Ground Floor (Att PR 003) – suitable for individual and duet rehearsals or one-to-one teaching.  This room has one piano.
  • Attenborough Seminar Block Ground Floor (Att PR 004) – suitable for individual and duet rehearsals or one-to-one teaching.  This room has two pianos.
