New scholarship available for Social Research Masters 2016/2017
The University of Leicester has just announced the Widening Participation Impact Scholarship for the 2016/2017 academic year
The University of Leicester Widening Participation Impact Pot is providing up to two masters scholarships for those interested in researching policy and practice in the field of widening participation in higher education.
The scholarships will be for the MSc in Social Research that provides students with an expert grounding in the practice of social research, teaching students about qualitative, quantitative and experimental research methods. Upon completion of the course, students will acquire the necessary academic skills to develop, implement and evaluate social research, making the MSc an excellent development opportunity for those interesting in a career in either academic research or professional evaluation.
Students funded through the scholarship will be tasked with completing a specially assigned dissertation that will evaluate the impact of one of the Widening Participation Impact Pot's key initiatives. In 2016/7 these will be focused on improving Mature Student Retention and WP Student Employability. The scholarship will be awarded to those applicants that best showcase their passion for widening participation and understanding of social research in their application.
The scholarship is available for Home/EU students, and will provide full remission of fees to the recipient(s). Unfortunately applications for part-time study or deferred entry cannot be considered due to the requirement for students to evaluate projects taking place in the 2016/17 academic year.
This scholarship is only open to University of Leicester students who meet the eligibility criteria for the University of Leicester Graduate Scholarship.
Please apply online, as usual, for the MSc Social Research but clearly state that your application is for the Widening Participation Impact Scholarship.
Closing date for application is Monday 4th July 2016
