Aims and Objectives

The establishment of KISU with the aim of bridging the gap in institutionalized research in the field of Kurdish politics and IR in the United Kingdom and particularly at the University of Leicester. The School of History,
Politics & IR enriches its research foci and offers its students a holistic knowledge of history, politics and international relations including those of the Middle Eastern region with particular emphasis on the Kurds and their regional and international interactions. The underpinning objective is to increase the understanding of the reality and role of the Kurds in international politics. As a result, a related aim would be the development of relations with international organisations and connections with other Kurdish Centres, particularly in Europe and the US.

Funding

KISU aspires to attract research grants and, possibly fellowships. In the long term the Unit would look to into introducing language training courses.

Teaching

KISU aims to offer modules related to the Kurds and their regional and international interactions for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This could lead to the design and implementation of further training and relevant courses.
