Post Graduate Conference 2017

Call for papers: School of History, Politics and International Relations Postgraduate Conference 2017

The School of History, Politics and International Relations’ 5th Postgraduate Conference will be held on Tuesday 16th May 2017. It is open to all postgraduate students at the University of Leicester working on dissertations or theses related to history, politics or international relations – and this includes students who are registered outside the School of History, Politics and International Relations.

The Conference is a great opportunity to present your research in front of a friendly and constructive audience, and gain feedback in a supportive environment – if you have never presented at a conference before, this is a good place to start.

Are you an MA or MRes student? If so, the Conference is an excellent opportunity to get dissertation feedback.

To give a paper at the Postgraduate Conference, please complete the attached Abstract and Registration form and send it by email to the Postgraduate Conference Committee by Friday 24th March 2017. You can find advice on abstract writing by following this link or you can follow our twitter stream where we’ll be posting useful links over the next few months.

Papers can be either 10 or 20 minutes long, followed by questions. Please indicate how long you would like to speak for on the Abstract and Registration form.

If you are studying away from Leicester, conference presentation via Skype will be possible. Please indicate your preference for this in your email submission.

The Conference will be structured in thematic panels, chaired by students. If you are interested in chairing a panel, please indicate this on the Abstract and Registration form. You can chair a panel without giving a paper at the Conference yourself – if you would like to do this, complete an Abstract and Registration form indicating this preference.

If you wish to attend the conference without giving a paper, sign up for this will open on 10th March via Eventbrite – details to come shortly.

We look forward to receiving your abstracts.
