Dr. Walsh is Associate Professor, Intelligence and Security Studies. He is a former intelligence analyst with experience working in national security and law enforcement agencies in Australia. Prof Walsh is currently a senior researcher at the Australian Graduate School of Policing and Security (AGSPS). He is co-theme leader (emerging threats) for the $140 million government and private sector funded Cooperative Research Centre Cyber Security. He is also Chief Investigator on an ARC Discovery grant ($277, 551) Intelligence and National Security Ethics, Efficacy and Accountability with Professor Seumas Miller (CSU) and ANU. Prof Walsh has 30 books, book chapters and peer reviewed articles on intelligence reform/capability, leadership, bio-terrorism, strategic intelligence and intelligence education. He has been widely consulted on intelligence capability and doctrine issues in the corrections, policing and national security sectors in Australia and internationally. Most recently, he has been consulted in the development (in 2017-18) of a CIAG ‘Five Eyes’ intelligence course along with A/Prof Rob Dover (University of Leicester) and the development of AFP’s new intelligence and learning development continuum. Professor Walsh has taught various intelligence analytical subjects throughout Australia, the US, UK, New Zealand, India and the Asia-Pacific. Prof Walsh has also held leadership roles within Charles Sturt University, including Acting Associate Dean (Research), Faculty of Arts in 2016.

College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities Masters Excellence Scholarships

The Masters Excellence Studentships are available to new UK/EU applicants registering for a full- or part-time, campus-based Masters degree in our College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities starting in the 2020-21 academic year. Four nine-month Masters Excellence studentships are available, each providing a full fee waiver. The deadline for applications is 29 May 2020.
