Study Support

Our newly extended and remodelled main David Wilson library offers a mass of resource, both in terms of hard copy and electronic materials, to help you with your studies. The main library contains 350 networked PCs, and wireless is avalible throughout the building, 14 group study rooms are also avalible.

The Student Learning Centre, part of the University's Student Support and Development Service, provides study guidance to help you to develop higher learning skills.

Dyslexia or Disability Support

The AccessAbility Centre provides pre-entry discussions or visits to discuss your support requirements, assistance with Disabled Students' Allowance Applications; space to work or rest, and specialist equipment and study support resources. Each department has an AccessAbility tutor who can advise you.

The AccessAbility tutor for the Department of Politics and International Relations is Mr Bruce Edhouse.

Financial Support

It is important that you have enough funds to cover the full cost of your course and living expenses before you start so you need to begin your research into possible funding as soon as possible. For more information on financing your studies.

The Students' Union

The Students' Union supports a variety of extremely active societies, many of which have their own common rooms and regularly organise social events and/or invite speakers.


The University of Leicester's Health Centre is a student-centred general practice, which also offers a counselling service.


The University offers students accommodation in its halls of residence as well as providing self-catering accommodation.

The Accommodation Information Service will also help students to find accommodation in the private rental sector, and advises students in privately rented accommodation on issues such as contracts, disrepair and harassment.

College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities Masters Excellence Scholarships

The Masters Excellence Studentships are available to new UK/EU applicants registering for a full- or part-time, campus-based Masters degree in our College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities starting in the 2017-18 academic year. Four nine-month Masters Excellence studentships are available, each providing a full fee waiver. The deadline for applications is 9 June 2017.
