Information for Undergraduate Students

The Careers Service, Careers Tutor, and the network of Personal Tutors can help ensure that students receive the support and guidance they need. The Careers Tutor works with the staff in the Department and Careers Service to engage with students throughout the undergraduate degree programme and deliver the Physics at Work elements of the course as well as the sessions organised by the Careers Service.

More information is available in the Student Information Guide, which is available on Blackboard.

Information for Postgraduate Students

Postgraduate students can attend career skills and development courses provided by the Graduate School and the College of Science and Engineering. For more information, please visit the Postgraduate Resources page.

Information for Research and Technical Staff

Research and technical staff may also attend the Research Staff Forum, who meet quarterly. The RSF was set up to give staff on fixed-term contracts an opportunity to discuss career progression and other issues with each other and to raise concerns directly, yet anonymously if desired, with the academic staff and Head of Department. For example, the RSF has organised workshops on grant-writing, in partnership with Staff Development. For more information about the RSF please contact Dr Neil Humpage.

The University has undersigned the Technician's Commitment: for more information on this including a UoL technician's forum, see central websites.

University Fora are in place for underrepresented groups: BME Forum, Disability Forum, Women's Forum and LGBT Forum. Contact the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Unit.
