Athena SWAN

The Athena SWAN Charter recognises good employment practice for women working in science, engineering and technology in higher education and research.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy gained an Athena SWAN Bronze Award in April 2013. This was extended by a year to bring it more into line with our IOP Juno award timelines, and we have applied for a new Bronze award in November 2017 (available internally on the Documentation page).

The University also holds an institutional Bronze Award, and members of our departmental working group are active in University Athena SWAN activities.
