Description of your current role:

After completing her PhD in 2011 (Cognitive Neuroscience) Sophie has had extensive research experience working with families and children. She has conducted research on externally funded projects, in a range of educational organisations, from pre-school and primary school, through to secondary school and higher education.




  • Leverhulme Trust 2019-2021: Resilience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics learning (~£147,000) [Co-applicant].
  • Nestle Purina 2017-2018: The impact of dogs in the office on employee commitment, social relations and work quality of life (~$30,000) [Co-Principal Investigator].
  • Dogs Trust Canine Welfare Grant 2017-2018: Development of a tool to assess and monitor pet dog quality of life (~£20,000) [Co-Principal Investigator].
