Scientific research:

I have a long standing research interest in the physiological roles of extracellular nucleotides and nucleosides particularly in:

1/ The respiratory system and associated diseases such as asthma. This includes immune cells (e.g. mast cells and eosinophils) and structural cells (e.g. smooth muscles) in the airways under healthy and asthmatic conditions.
2/ The cardiovascular system (blood vessels, haematic cells functions and haematopoiesis).

Pedagogical research:

I am also committed to improving the learning and teaching experience in higher education. I want to help students who, for different reasons (e.g. financial, family background) can’t join the University, or can’t fully engage and/or enjoy life at University and students who perform modestly (because of a lack of confidence, opportunity, support, skill, etc.) to progress.
