Research Areas

  • Macromolecular Crystallography

The crystallography facility is equipped with robotics for protein crystallisation and visualisation and a state of the art X-ray generator and detector.

Current research interests include:Picture 2.png

  • Transcriptional factors and complexes
  • Glycolytic enzymes
  • Heme binding proteins (enzymes and regulatory factors)
  • Cytoskeletal proteins

... and many others

  • NMR

The HWLSB seek to perform high-resolution NMR spectroscopy for studies of macromolecular structure and interactions in solution at the limits of its capabilities. The NMR facility is currently  equipped with one 500MHz, two Picture 1.png600MHz and one 800MHz NMR spectrometers. The research groups of the HWLSB continuously apply the latest techniques and seek to maintain its equipment at the highest level. Thus, it aims to position itself at the forefront of structural biology.

  • Bioinformatics and Computational Biology

Image3The Bioinformatics and Computational Biology group has expertise in diverse fields of bioinformatics such as protein structure prediction and fold recognition, molecular modelling and docking, sequence and phylogenic analysis.
