When you come on board one of our undergraduate courses here in Modern Languages at the University of Leicester, you’ll get a unique opportunity to spend three weeks on one of our special, fully funded summer schools in the heart of one of the countries whose languages you are learning. Beginners students attend the summer school relevant to the language they have begun ab initio, and Advanced students can choose which school they feel they would best benefit from. The summer schools are also staggered throughout the summer so that, if you can and want to, you might self-fund another trip.

Whether you study in Montpellier (France), Massa Marittima (Italy), or Santiago de Compostela (Spain), you’ll enjoy language learning classes in small tuition groups each weekday morning. In the afternoons, evenings and at weekends, you’ll take part in cultural and social activities that immerse you in the social and cultural context.

The benefits you’ll gain are invaluable. You’ll build your confidence in both your spoken and written language skills, discover new cultures, and build life-long friendships. Our summer schools are excellent preparation for your second year and year abroad, and they are also a great way for you and your fellow modern languages students to really get to know one another and share fantastic memories.

Our summer schools are just one reason why studying Modern Languages at Leicester is a great choice to make.
