"Studying at the University of Leicester has been a brilliant experience. I like the fact that the University is culturally diverse. The tutors are very supportive, friendly and well experienced, and the modules that I have studied have been very engaging".

Shireen Afifi (MA in Translation studies, 16-17)

How has time gone by so quickly? This one-year study in University of Leicester will be an amazing chapter of my life. It is filled with essays, exams and presentations and I will never forget the hours in the library, the days struggling to meet a deadline and the essay-related stress. There is no denying that studying at university is not an easy job. But the teachers here are enthusiastic and conscientious who have demonstrated passion and commitment to their work. They help me to find my research focus and guide me through the whole research project. The skills I have developed here will benefit me for a lifetime. Anyway, University of Leicester and this city will be a place close to my heart. No matter wherever I go, I will always carry a little bit of this university in my heart.

"Targeted modules and genuinely learned tutors guide me to the world of translation studies. Classmates are always helpful and warm. Leicester is definitely a place that will make you feel at home".

Xihuan Hu (MA in Translation Studies, 15-16)

"I still remember that in the first lecture, Dr Ying showed us how to translate a sentence in Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland. The year spent with translation studies is just like an adventure.

  • The programme made me a real translator with passion and clear thinking.
  • The programme taught me not only how to translate, but also why to translate.
  • The programme gave me what I wanted to know about translation, and a lot more".

Zou Zhao (MA in Translation Studies, 15-16)

"I am able to demonstrate competence in translation into and out of English and Arabic, as well as demonstrate the ability to reflect upon and use relevant theories in the production and assessment of translation".

Rayya Nasser (MA in Translation Studies, 15-16)
