Italian

The expertise of staff in Italian studies covers literature, film and the visual arts, architecture, cultural history, and linguistics, and so affords our students the chance to study courses on topics ranging from classical Italian texts such as Dante’s Inferno, to contemporary Italian women’s writing, Italian modernism, post-WWII Italian cinema and Italian Fascism. Through courses such as these students are able to combine the continual development of their language skills with the chance to engage in detail with the historically rich regional and national cultures of Italy as well as with its contemporary life.
