Biography

I am a lecturer in Spanish and Latin American Studies, specialising in Argentine cinema, particularly the connections between cinema and fine arts, as well as the more experimental spheres of the moving image, such as video art and the creative documentary film trend. I joined the University of Leicester in September 2013, having previously worked at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Spain) as a graduate teaching assistant. I have also taught, as a visiting scholar at Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina), Universidad Nacional del Centro de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (UNICEN, Tandil, Argentina), and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain). I combine my research activity with being an editorial board member of the Spanish film journal 'Secuencias. Revista de Historia del Cine' (UAM-Maia Ediciones).At Leicester I am the Spanish Section Coordinator for the School of Arts.

Research

My research focus is on Argentine cinema, particularly the connections between cinema and fine arts, as well as the more experimental spheres of the moving image, such as video art and the creative documentary film trend. My research interests also include Latin American cinema and video, and issues related to visual culture, cultural studies and Latin American studies.

Experimental Argentine Film and Video

This project seeks to encourage an interdisciplinary dialogue with filmmakers, artists, academics and amateur film enthusiasts that would explore different forms of expression involving the moving image. In so doing, it aims to disseminate Argentine experimental film and video and to provide the opportunity to assert their value as an important cultural force that shapes national and transnational identity and representation. As an outcome of this project, I have curated the following exhibitions and film viewings:
