2017 Teaching and Administrator Excellence Awards

The awards aim to:

  • Recognise and reward excellence in teaching and administration
  • Celebrate, disseminate and encourage best practice
  • Strengthen good relationships between the student body and faculty staff
  • Enable the Medical School to find out more about what students value most in their learning experience, and their perceptions of excellence in teaching.

Outstanding Clinical Teacher Award

This award is open to all Clinical Teachers who teach Leicester Medical Students and who have demonstrated excellence in teaching at a clinical teaching site. Nominees must be an active Clinical Teacher at the time of nomination.

Outstanding Clinical Team Award

This award is open to all clinical teams who deliver teaching to Leicester medical students. The award will go to the team who have demonstrated exemplary team work in the delivery of teaching and who have been particularly helpful and supportive to students.

Outstanding Phase 1 Teaching Award

This award is open to all Phase 1 teachers and Clinical Teaching Fellows who teach Leicester medical students and who have demonstrated excellence in teaching.  Nominees must be an active Phase 1 teacher or Clinical Teaching Fellow at the time of nomination.

Outstanding Administrator Award

This award is open to all administrators who co-ordinate and support teaching for Phase 1 and 2 Leicester medical students.  The award will go to the person who has demonstrated excellent organisational and communication skills, who has been particularly helpful and supportive to students, and who has gone the extra mile to deliver a high-quality service to students.

The award winners will be presented with their prizes at the Annual Medical School Day in February 2018.

Nomination Process

Nominations can be made by medical students in Phase 1 or 2 of the Leicester MBChB and will be based on their teaching and administrator experience in the last 12 months.  A completed nomination form should be accompanied by a brief citation describing how the nominee/clinical team has demonstrated excellence in the delivery of their work and/or teaching.  This will be read out at the Awards Ceremony.

Adjudication Committee

The Excellence Awards Adjudication Committee will consist of the Head of School and three other Faculty members.

The closing date for nominations is Friday 10th November 2017.
