Medicine with Foundation Year Course Other Requirements

All applicants to Leicester Medical School are required to take the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) in the year of application. This test helps universities widen access and make fairer choices amongst the many highly qualified applicants who apply for medical degrees.

We do not have a pre-determined score you must achieve in the UKCAT to apply to Leicester Medical School.

Applicants with band 4 in the Situational Judgement Test will be automatically rejected pre-interview.

Age on Entry

Applicants must be 17 years old by 1 September of their entry year.

Health requirements

Academic scoring, and the interview process are all undertaken outwith of any health or special circumstances. However, if you are made - and accept - an offer you will be required to complete a Health Screening Questionnaire. More information can be found in the Occupational Health Services Information document.

The UK Government requires that all medical students in this country must be screened for hepatitis B.

It is not possible under current GMC rules to omit any part of the medical course curriculum so you must have adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to undertake all of these. The GMC's document 'Tomorrow's Doctors' details all the mandatory practical procedures for completion of the course and preliminary registration.

Information for disabled or dyslexic candidates
