Media and Communication at Leicester

We are one of the UK’s leading centres for research and teaching in media, communication and culture. In 2016 Media and Communication at Leicester celebrated 50 years of media research. We are one of the largest academic communities focusing on media and communication in the UK today.

In July 2016 we hosted the annual conference of the International Association of Media and Communication Research. Over 1,200 delegates from across the world attended this prestigious event.

Following the conclusion of the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, the department placed 15th overall for media research in the country, with 82% of research articles and books being rated as “world leading” or “internationally excellent”. We are also ranked 11th in the UK in the Complete University Guide 2017 with an overall score of 94.7% and ranked in the range 51-100 in the QS World University Rankings for 2018.
