Daniel Ashton

Daniel Ashton is a Lecturer and MA Pathway Leader on the MA Global Media Management in the Winchester School of Art at the University of Southampton. His teaching and research focuses on media work, organisations and industries.

His AHRC funded PhD (Lancaster University) examined working in the creative and cultural industries, and workers’ relationships with digital technologies. From 2008 to 2015 he taught on the BA (Hons) Media Communications at Bath Spa University (UK) and coordinated modules on: 'Media Power', 'Journalism and Citizenship', 'Reporting Risk', ‘Journalism: Practice and Profession’ and ‘Community Media’. He is the co-editor of Cultural Work and Higher Education, and has published work in a range of academic journals, including: Convergence; Journal of Education and Work; Journal of Cultural Economy; Games & Culture; Fibreculture, and Television & New Media.
