PhD Topic

Female Blogging and Democratic Policy-Making in Nigeria

  • First Year of Study

Brief Description of PhD topic

Even though global statistics reveal that women are lagging behind in terms of internet use as compared to men in Nigeria, a contradiction is pertinent in the area of blogging where female patronage of blogs in general is said to equal that of men.

My research seeks to investigate these discrepancies, as well as examine how blogging as an active social networking platform, can be used to improve female participation in government policy-making which is poor. Hence, the idea that the unrestricted nature of the internet might hold the potential to allow women's voices to be heard, is the focal point of my study.
