The Topological Spectrum of General Point Patterns
The Mathematics Department at Leicester University is hosting an International Network Grant on the Topological Spectrum of General Point Patterns funded by the Leverhulme Trust through a grant obtained by Prof Alex Clark.
The other members of the Network are:
- Ethan Akin (New York)
- Jean-Marc Gambaudo (Nice)
- Johannes Kellendonk (Lyon)
- Robbert Fokkink (Delft)
- Robert Wolak (Krakow)
The aim of the proposed research is to develop and analyse a mathematical notion of spectrum for the general point pattern or tiling of a non-Euclidean space and to relate this spectrum to a diffraction spectrum for a corresponding distribution of matter.
The research commenced on 1st April 2014. Since the project started experts from UK Universities and overseas institutions have visited the University of Leicester for various research activities related to the project.
Experts who visited Leicester University during the first year of the research
Experts who visted Leicester University during the second year of research
Experts who visited Leicester University during the third year of research
These are student projects around the theme of the grant:
