Biography

Réka joined the Centre for Sustainable Work and Employment Futures in 2014 having previously been employed as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Centre for Labour Market Studies, University of Leicester. Prior to moving to the United Kingdom, she worked as a researcher and educational consultant in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She has a BA and an MA in Sociology from Babeş-Bolyai University, an MA in Public Policy from the Central European University and she is completing her PhD studies in Labour Market Research at the University of Leicester.

Research Interests

Réka has a broad range of research interests located mainly within sociology of work, education and youth. She conducts research on these topics from both theoretical and applied perspectives using qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods.
Her current research interests focus on transitions into, out of and within work:
  • education–work transitions;
  • unemployment/economic inactivity–work transitions;
  • work–retirement transitions;
  • career transitions, multiple statuses and changes in employment status.
Additionally, her interests include space usage and space perception in urban settings, and culture and leisure (time) consumption of young people at festivals. Since 2005 she collaborates with researchers from the Max Weber Foundation for Social Research in Cluj-Napoca, Romania on the yearly-organised Peninsula Festival Research.
