Law success at the 2015 Student Awards

The Law School congratulates the excellent achievements of its students at the annual University of Leicester Student Awards.

Maheer Azmat was awarded a ‘Teaching Partnership Award’ for founding the Student Law Society Support Program, a new student-led system of peer-assisted learning.

Alice Shaw was awarded a ‘Teaching Partnership Award’ for her excellent work on project GRAFT (Getting it Right: Assessment and Feedback in Translation)

Pouneh Ahari was awarded Campaigner of the Year who, as chair of the Labour Students Society, campaigned for a variety of issues, notably succeeding in the campaign against the presence of G4S on campus.

The Pro Bono Society was awarded 2015 Enterprise Group of the Year. The Pro Bono group manages four projects which benefit students, staff and the local community by increasing access to, and awareness of, the law under the Street Law project, the Legal Advice Clinic, the Research into Alleged Miscarriages of Justice and the Asylum project.

The Legal Advice Clinic, thriving under the leadership of its Director, Lisa Elmore, beat off tough competition from international non-profit and nationally-affiliated groups to the prize.
