Why proactivity is now a key legal skill required by law firms, Tuesday 12 November

Craig Sharpe, from Darlingtons Solicitors LLP, will be delivering a talk to students as part of our Careers and Employability Programme. Craig Sharpe has had a career spanning over 25 years working in law, partly as a solicitor and now a marketing specialist for law firms. This background gives Craig an unusual insight into what’s changed and what law firms now look for when recruiting, why this is and why the information is important for students.

This talk will be informal but practical and is full of real world examples.

  • The legal market – what’s changed?
  • The old fashioned lawyer
  • The new type of client
  • The proactive lawyer – more than just a good technical lawyer
  • What really goes on in modern law firms – a brief look at firms including Darlingtons, Streathers and Gannons

  • Who’s getting it wrong?
