Law School film club, Reel Law, screening of documentary Motley’s Law, 5 February 2019

Leicester Law School screening of documentary on the first foreign lawyer to litigate in the Afghan courts since 2008

Kimberley Motley is the first foreign lawyer able to litigate in the Afghan courts since 2008. She left her family in America to defend the human rights of both Afghan and foreign clients in some of the world's toughest criminal and human rights cases. This is a portrait of an extraordinary, resilient woman and her fight for 'justness' in the face of dangerous local conditions and increasing personal and physical threats.

Motley’s Law will appeal to anyone with an interest in human rights and criminal law, litigating in a corrupt legal system and women of colour in the law.

Date and time: Tuesday 5 February, 6pm—7.30pm
Location: Attenborough Tower, Lecture Theatre 3
Film Running Time: 85 minutes
The event is free and open to all

The screening will be followed by an informal reception where attendees are welcome to stay for a glass of wine and informal chat after the screening.

This event is generously sponsored by Howes Percival.
