Problem-Based Learning

One of the main areas of our research is problem-based learning (PBL).

PBL Workshop

The Centre ran PBL summer workshops, three day events for academic staff interested in starting on or developing PBL in their courses.

Although the workshops no longer run, the Centre continues to offers consultancy advice either to individuals or groups locally and nationally.

PBL Repository (Project LeAP)

The Centre maintains a repository of mainly physics-based PBL materials freely available to adapt and deploy (although we would appreciate knowing if you are using any of them). These materials have been used at one time or another in various contexts including on-line, Foundation Degree, Physics degrees at all levels or in our Natural Sciences programme.  Browsing our site can also be a useful prompt for your own ideas.

The web site is a legacy from our Problem-based Learning in Astronomy and Physics project supported through the HEFCE Fund for the Development of Teaching and Learning projects (FDTL4).
