Biography

After graduating with a BSc Hons in Medical Microbiology from the University of Edinburgh, I worked at the Centre for Infectious Diseases at the University of Edinburgh on the Epstein–Barr virus before embarking on PhD on the cellular biology of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) at the MRC Virology Unit at the University of Glasgow. Upon completion of my doctorate I continued working on HCV as a research fellow at the University of Leeds.

I worked as sessional lecturer in Biological Sciences at Nottingham Trent University 2009/10 and joined the Genetic Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (GENIE) at the University of Leicester February 2010. I started working for the Centre for Interdisciplinary Science in May 2010. In addition to teaching in the Genetics Department and the Centre for Interdisciplinary Science I have worked on a number of educational projects (details below).

I initiated the Research Theme of Teaching and Learning to the College of Science and Engineering in November 2014 and became Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Science in June 2015.
