Establishing Children's Attitudes to Law through Digital Games

Lex the alien

Effie Law is part of the team behind the ESRC funded project "Law in Children's Lives", which is led by Dr Dawn Watkins in the Department of Law.

The project will explore how children perceive the law and their rights, through the innovative use of digital computer games.

The game, designed by Newcastle-based Enigma Interactive, revolves around an alien (Lex - in the picture), which asks children to explain their lives to him, and in doing so to establish their attitudes to various legal concepts.

The project has so far used the game to record the views of children from eight primary schools in the Leicestershire area, and hope to conclude the project in early 2016.
