A postgraduate qualification is an investment in your future. Like you, we are keen that your investment pays off. There is no doubt that studying for a postgraduate qualification can help your career prospects – you will gain the deeper knowledge and high end skills and that will set you apart. Studying with us gives a clear signal to employers. It demonstrates that you have the spark, ambition and commitment to take your career to the next level. Your employer will also benefit directly from your newly acquired understanding and capabilities.

We will offer guidance in skills evaluation at the outset of the programme, which may help when considering whether one of the specialist courses is right for you. You will receive further guidance as you select your modules and choose your project topic.

As a Leicester student you will also be able to make use of the University Careers Service.

The Career Development Service’s website is the first port of call for career tips and online resources. You can find information about our services and events, as well as tips, templates and examples for your CV, covering letter, personal statement, application form, and even your LinkedIn profile. We have top tips for interviews and comprehensive resources to practice psychometric tests, including in-depth personalised feedback on how you can improve your results.

MyCareers is an online careers platform. You can use this to search for vacancies and opportunities, but also to access a wide range of support. The first step is to log in with your university username and password, then update your profile and contact details. You will then be sent information about relevant opportunities and vacancies. You can use the queries tab to get e-guidance from Career advisers, whether you’re in need of some careers advice or would like feedback on your CV or application. An adviser will aim to respond to you within 5 working days.

If you would like to have a conversation rather than receiving advice by email, appointments by telephone or by video call are offered. Advisers offer career guidance, interview preparation, mock interviews and feedback on CVs, covering letters, applications and personal statements. To help you make the most of your appointment, you will be asked to complete a simple preparation task. More information is here:

You can book an appointment online through MyCareers or by calling 0116 252 2004. If you are booking a video appointment, we advise that you book by phone or email to arrange this.
