Funding for early careers researchers

There are a number of sources of funding to assist in the transition from Postdoctoral Researcher to academic posts. Support is also available for acadmics in the early stages of their careers. Some are specifically aimed at researchers who want to return to their work after a career break. This may have been (but not exclusively) for family, caring or health reasons.

Marie Curie Action Fellowships See calls for proposals on website Various terms up to 4 years Range of funding for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. EU Commission funded.

Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowship

Anyone interested is welcome to contact  Dr Rhaana Starling (rlcs1@le.ac.uk ) for more information. Rhaana is a current Fellow.

Applications will close on 12 January 2016. up to 5 years Supports researchers who require a flexible working pattern. Female candidates are particularly invited to apply.

The Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships

The 2016 round will open on 1 January 2016. The closing date for applications is 10 March 2016 at 4pm. 3 years full time (part time over longer considered) Not linked to return from career break. There are approx. 100 Fellowships available for 2016
