I am a researcher and technologist who runs an informatics group within the respiratory theme of the Leicester Biomedical Research Centre focusing mainly on technology building and technology-driven research. This includes: creating tools to help with the collection and handling of data through new tools, pipelines and data standards; and using data-driven approaches such as AI and machine learning to improve technologies and extract knowledge from existing clinical data to make real differences to clinical practice.

Research

  • Data-driven tools for improving collection and integration of biomedical data. Most recently related to clinical cohorts (EXCEED); research clinics/clinical studies (local respiratory research database) and breathomics (EMBER).
  • Use of AI/machine learning and visual approaches to enhance informatics tools through adaptive user interfaces.
  • Analysis of data sets to extract new knowledge, in particular looking at pneumonia and TB.

If you are interested in collaborating in any of the above areas, or are a student who would like to develop a PhD project please get in touch.
