December 2013

And we're off...

Our first activities began in the winter of 2013, with oral history projects about working lives and about Charnwood’s experience of war. We have also set up a fieldwalking group and have started training for a more extensive archaeological fieldwork study next autumn. These are both relatively short-term activities lasting for just a few months in the autumn/winter.

Archival research will start in 2014 and the first theme will be 'working lives'. This first section of the archival research will last about a year. The first of the community digs will take place in Anstey next summer.

Oral History Training Day

This three-hour session was held on Friday 13 December in Quorn Village Hall. Local people learned research techniques, how to develop the right questions, and how to use recording equipment and sound editing software.
