Midlands3Cities PhD Funding Opportunity

The School of History, Politics and International Relations is part of the Midlands3Cities Doctoral Training Partnership, an  Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funded consortium for UK and EU arts and humanities research students.  This a collaboration between the University of Leicester, the University of Nottingham, the University of Birmingham, De Montfort University, Nottingham Trent University, and Birmingham City University and will enable students to draw on expertise across these institutions during their doctoral research.

M3C is also awarding 7 Collaborative Doctoral Awards with partner organisations: Flatpack Festival, Leicester City Council, Nottingham City Museums and Galleries, Nottingham Contemporary, Oxford Lieder, Royal Shakespeare Company, and Spalding Gentlemen's Society.

M3C provides studentships to enable you to undertake and complete a doctoral degree. Studentships will normally be for up to three years for full-time study, or up to six years for part-time study. Read profiles of some of our current PhD students funded by Midlands3Cities.

  • Medieval, early modern and modern history in the British, European and global contexts.
  • Political, social, economic, intellectual and cultural history.
