Biography

I received my BA in Contemporary History at the University of Leicester and my M.St in American History from the University of Oxford. I completed my PhD, ‘From Massive Resistance to New Conservatism: White Opposition to Community Action Programs in Mississippi, 1965-1975’, at the University of Leicester in 2014. My research focuses on the US South in the twentieth century, exploring white opposition to the Civil Rights Movement, the failure of the War on Poverty and the rise of new conservatism.
