Combining practical sessions with the University's teaching collection our course leaders will use recent case studies from urban excavation projects in Leicester to demonstrate how pottery fits into the narrative of the site and how the post-excavation process can enrich the site narrative. professionals who have an interest in Roman pottery. This one day course assumes no prior knowledge of Roman pottery and is aimed at people wishing to develop a specialism or to better understand the potential of this material.

The course will be led by Nick Cooper and Liz Johnson from ULAS who have extensive excavation and assessment experience.

Integrating the evidence of Pottery with the Site Narrative and Beyond

Venue

  • This course will be held in the University's ceramics lab in the School of Archaeology & Ancient History building. Directions to campus can be found here.
  • The University has limited pay & display parking available in the car park on Welford Road. There is limited on street parking available close to the university. Should you choose to travel by train the campus is easily accessible by bus, a short taxi ride, or a 15 minute walk.

The course costs £150 for the day including course materials, refreshments, and lunch.
