Biography

Shona has a BA (Hons) in Public Administration and Managerial Studies from De Montfort University, and a Masters in Health Information Science for Health Services Management from Warwick University.

Shona came to be working in healthcare research through a strong family background in health and a particular interest in primary care and improving patient’s experience.

Before joining SAPPHIRE, Shona has been working as a Research Associate in the Department of Health Sciences at the University of Leicester with the Quality & Service Delivery Group for over ten years, where she has worked on many different projects including ‘Screening and diagnosis for dementia in black and minority ethnic (BME) communities in general practice settings’ and a CLAHRC project ‘Tailored Implementation of Chronic Diseases (TICD): Evaluation of a tailored intervention to improve management of overweight and obesity in primary care’.

Shona is currently working with Graham Martin on two CLAHRC funded studies called ‘Processes for engagement and coproduction with patients, carers, the public and wider stakeholders, and their impact on The National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) East Midlands activity and outputs’ and ‘The legacy of the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) East Midlands: where, why and how is evidence produced by the CLAHRC taken up in key decision-making processes across the regions healthcare organisations?’

In her spare time Shona likes reading, walking her dogs and watching TV crime dramas and Hollywood blockbusters.
