Sarwar Islam has secured a place on a 3 month internship programme at The Alan Turing Institute on a project called “London Explained: Interactive Tools for Understanding Open Data”. The ATI is the UK’s newly founded national institute of data science and consists of 5 founding universities; University of Cambridge, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Oxford, University College London (UCL) and the University of Warwick.

 He’ll be working on developing an innovative and engaging approach of presenting data and statistical models. The tool aims to encourage users to explore and understand a high impact dataset through interactive visualisations and exhibit the power of statistical modelling and data-driven inferences. The internship further involves a close collaborative relationship with The Bureau of Investigative Journalism and a team from a variety of disciplines including computer science, informatics, physics and biostatistics.
