Compassionate Leave

When can I take compassionate leave?

Compassionate leave is taken to cover periods of bereavement of close family.  The Departmental policy is to allow a maximum of two weeks (pro rata for part time staff) in any rolling 12 calendar months.  Any additional leave required would need to be taken as annual leave or unpaid leave.  Requests for compassionate leave must be sent to Debbie Oldham, do43@le.ac.uk, 0116 252 3206 in the Departmental Office.

What are the Department's responsibilities?

  • To ensure that all requests for compassionate leave are considered in a fair, consistent and sensitive manner.
  • Ensure that any periods of compassionate leave are recorded in line with University requirements.
