Known as PhDepictions in previous years, Images of Research is a pictorial competition for University of Leicester research staff and students.

Although the 2017 date of the exhibition is yet to be announced (but will be in the week beginning the 5th December 2017), our successful Images of Research competition is back for its second year, hosted by the Doctoral College!

It presents an opportunity for all our researchers – PGRs through to Principal Investigators and Research Leaders -- to submit an image to best represent their research at the University of Leicester and communicate passion for their subject.

Images of Research is a unique display of the breadth and quality of research undertaken by researchers at the University and allows those who take part it is an opportunity to think about their research in a new and visual way. If you are a researcher or postgraduate researcher and interested in taking part please read the instructions below.


DEADLINE: midnight 27 October 2017

  1. To make a submission to our Images of Research competition please send your chosen image, title, and a small 100 word statement to
  2. Images should be of high quality (e.g. 300 dpi) as we intend to print all images as A3; participants have the option of a smaller print but need to indicate up front if this is the case.
  3. Images can be a photograph, collage, or a digital drawing created by the researcher(s).
