Research Interests

My research interests are based on investigating the sedimentology of fine-grained sediments. To this end I use optical and electron microscopy, and petrographic analysis of mudstones to understand the processes of deposition, and depositional environments.

My responsibilities include the maintenance of project-specific databases.

Activities

  • Expressions of shallow marine conditions in the Early Carboniferous of the Northumberland Basin, oral presentation, BSRG Annual General Meeting, 2015.
  • An Early Carboniferous marine environment in the Northumberland Basin preserves a unique vertebrate assemblage, poster presentation, BSRG Annual General Meeting, 2014.
  • Early Carboniferous marginal marine palaeoenvironments preserve important vertebrate fauna in the Northumberland Basin, poster presentation, BSRG Annual General Meeting, 2013.
  • Facies variations as an insight to depositional mechanisms in fine-grained sedimentary rocks, oral presentation, BSRG Annual General Meeting, 2012.
  • Dynamic deposition of fine-grained intervals from the Namurian of the Edale sub-basin, oral presentation, BSRG Annual General Meeting, 2011.
