Teaching

Dr. Sarah J. Davies

Modules covering sedimentological topics are taught as lectures, practicals and through a field-based module in SE Spain. The practical application of sedimentological principles are developed through assessed exercises that require integration of a range of sedimentological data and information to devise a facies and facies association schemes and interpret these in terms of depositional process and environment.

The optional third-year module (GL3069) critically examines the controls (eustasy, tectonics and sediment supply) of sedimentary systems preserved in the geological record and uses examples from active University of Leicester research projects and the recent literature.

I offer a number of Masters Research Projects (open to students studying the Integrated Masters at the University of Leicester).

University-based Teaching

  • GL2005 Depositional Processes and Environments

  • GL3069 Controls on Depositional Systems (Module co-ordinator)

Field-based Teaching

  • GL2042 Geological Field Methods: Leader on a one-week field course based in SE Spain
