The University of Leicester are delighted to host Dr. Gabriele Uenzelmann-Neben as part of the 2015 European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD) Distinguished Lecturer Programme.
ECORD Distinguished Lecturer Programme “Reconstructing palaeo-circulation: Reading sediment drifts with the aid of IODP information”

Dr. Uenzelmann-Neben

Dr. Uenzelmann-Neben will talk about the combined use of International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) information, seismic reflection data and numerical simulations in the study of chronological and spatial changes in regional ocean circulation. Sediment drifts deposited by Thermohaline Circulation (THC)-driven bottom currents provide a detailed record of palaeoenvironmental information relating to climate development and oceanography, and as such represent a powerful tool in helping to better understand climate modifications.
