Postgraduate Study

We offer a variety of courses, enabling you to select the postgraduate or research programme that best matches your interests and future career aspirations.

Our programmes have been carefully designed to provide specialist training in a range of areas to prepare you fully for careers in business, planning and management, as active decision makers in national and international organisations, and as productive scientists in research institutions and academia.

Geography has a large, vibrant and friendly postgraduate community housed in modern facilities with dedicated computer access. The quality of our programmes is reflected in its professional accreditation (RICS). The department is widely recognised as having an established international reputation for the provision of high-quality graduate programmes.

English Language Requirements

If you have not previously been taught in English or are not a native English speaker:

  • English language requirements are IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in all four categories), TOEFL 575 (paper), 250 (computer-based), or 90 (internet-based) or equivalent.

For preparatory courses contact the English Language Teaching Unit. A pass in course D satisfies the English language requirements for taught courses.
