Latest MSc Prizes announced

The Department of Geography is delighted to announce that a number of masters students have been awarded prizes.

The Department of Geography is delighted to announce that a number of masters students have been awarded prizes:

  • ESRI (Best GIS student): C Burwell (certificate and £250)
  • RICS (Best GIS & EI dissertation prize): shared between C Everard & K Haji Ibrahim (certificate and £50 each)
  • Dept of Geography Best Masters student in Geography taught MSc / MA courses except EI and GIS: V Gray (certificate and £100)

Also 2 students on the MSc in GIS have been awarded prizes by the Callcredit Information Group for their postgraduate dissertations. The judges noted that all of the submitted projects 'were of a very high standard, hence it was difficult to choose the best two’. However the winners of the awards:

  • CAMEO Award: Jefferson Hardy “A GIS approach to assess the sufficiency of local childcare provision, integrating parental survey data” (certificate and cheque for £200)
  • MICROVISION Award: Karyn Aviani “Social Interactions in Geographical Space: a study of mothers of small children in a Clarendon Park” (certificate and cheque for £200)
