Amazon

During a two weeks expedition to the remote primary terra firme and flooded várzea forests, students participated in a large project that studies the effect of contemporary climate change on the Amazon forest. This was a unique opportunity to gain academic experience and engage with local postgraduate students and researchers (e.g. Prof. Maria Cristina Peñuela, Director of the el Zafire Research station). The module, ‘Neotropical rain forests’, is lead by Dr. Juan Carlos Berrio and Dr. Arnoud Boom who have a long standing research experience in the Neotropics.
